UX PORTFOLIO

I decided to get serious about UX since 2019, although  I had done intuitively User flows, UI/UX for my apps and games I decided to learn Design thinking, HCI and UCD. Part of my journey has also been working in the Software industry as Quality Engineer for several years, interacting closely with the Product Owners to create Acceptance Criteria to keep the vision of the products, always giving my inputs to improve the products from the User's perspective.

2021

CREATE JAM SPRING 2021

2D Adventure shooter game, made with a team of students from Denmark universities, submission to the Create Jam Spring 2021. I joined the team half a day later as I was invited last minute, since the idea was defined already I mainly collaborated with the UI/UX, the challenge was trying to understand the game idea as designer didn't communicate well about it. However, gladly we managed to collaborate as team. My roles: I was invited to work in  UI/UX, but I also helped with some art for gameplay, the game-logo and guiding game-cover composition.

UKIE MOBO JAM 2021

3D Game with a moving maze, made with a team of students to bring awareness of the water crisis the world is facing, submission to the Ukie Student Game Jam: #MoboJam The original plan for the game was  managing clean water from the glacier to the population, avoiding elements that contaminate and using water to give life to trees. Demo game ended as clean water versus brown drops dirty water, the objective of the game is to get 10 trees in the maze. My roles: I was invited to collaborate as game designer and UI/UX.

GLOBAL GAME JAM 2021

2D Platformer & puzzle. "Oops!! lost in los Andes" is about the king's magic pet that got lost in dangerous Los Andes high mountains! the player has to find it before the condor "gulps" it XD. Our character can use telekinesis to move parts of the scenario to catch the pet but only for limited time. I worked almost alone, artist joined last min.

My roles: creative direction, mechanics, narrative, level design, UI/UX, programming , character design and animation.

GLOBAL GAME JAM 2020

3-match puzzle game. We human beings are producers of garbage and all because we like to consume as much as we want, we can or our economy allow us, the richer the more-trash-producer probably XD Let's restore/fix the world taking care of our garbage, the more you recollect, the better! The timer is so you control how much can you endure and how many points can you do. Also survival mode.

My roles: creative direction, mechanics, narrative, level design, UI/UX, programming.

GLOBAL GAME JAM 2019

Narrative puzzle, intended to be an RPG. A boy is lost in an unknown world and he is trying to remember who he is, he'll need to use or develop social skills to survive there. Interactions with every character vary and any decision will have some cost for the player, either in health or economy. The kid has to decide at some point if he'll still want to go back home or make from the new world its home.

My roles: creative direction, mechanics, narrative, level design, UI/UX, programming.

GLOBAL GAME JAM 2018

Strategy game about fellowship to send messages of light between two points of connection. Gossip is taken metaphorically as an illness that infects all the people involved. The personification of gossip is the source of illness named "Mr. Tattletale", his goal: go against the message of light, convince citizens to stop transmitting light, he has fun seeing how messages arrive distorted and people fight with each other. This game shows subtly the importance of remaining in truth and the consequences of allowing gossip and gossipmongers to spread.

M.I. Universe: The realm of the Kaleidoscope

It is an episodic story-driven action adventure-puzzle game. Players can start their quest with any available episode. In order to discover their original design, players must collect the keys of from the 9 realms, escaping from the agents of the dark-masters facing challenges and defeating the mysterious sages, where each realm is developed in an episode. Every episode will be different but will keep the discovery of patterns and narrative as constant.

My roles: creative direction, mechanics, narrative, level design, UI/UX, programming, lead artist.

Xtreme Robot Destruction IP

It is a button bashing metal grinding street fighter. Players fight their way to fame and fandom by gaining currency for each one of their victorious battles heated player vs player combat. Once at the top you will face numerous challengers who set out to take your crown it is up to 'you' as the player to fend off these potential threats and send them back in parts to cement your legacy as the greatest robot fighter to have ever lived!

Main IP was developed for PS4, XRD-Micro was developed for Android, similar mechanics, use of Augmented Reality and the Geotag technologies to give the players the possibility of fighting in real locations. 

I participated in pre-production and early production for both products.

My roles:

For XRD-Micromaking Unity 3D prototypes using AR and Geotagging.

For XRD-PS4: Transmedia team, narrative lore, multiple screen strategies, support tasks.

Astral Switch

It is a single screen puzzle platformer based on oriental folklore. You play as Pema, a monk in training under the wise Dojo Master. Pema has the unique ability to fire her spirit out of her body as an "Astral Projectile". Any enemy hit with this projectile will switch positions with Pema, teleporting her to the new spot, and her enemy to her old spot. Using this Astral Switch ability, Pema must recover all of the scrolls stolen from her Dojo by the evil Oni. Published on Google Play.

My roles: programmer in Cocos2DX and C++. Added environmental VFX.

INFORMATIKA SRL

English4Beginners

It is an Educational software to teach English, basic to intermediate level. The purpose was creating educational software with mini-games and animations to make it very interactive and entertaining, I'd say it was a complex and polished product for these times. It was made in Macromedia Flash and Action Script. Platform is Windows and the playable can be provided on request. MY VERY FIRST experience doing a video game, I enjoyed it but also this project was a financial failure showing Bolivian audience is not willing to pay for creative products, then I had to move on and look for a stable job.

My roles: programmer, designer of one of the mini games, animator of several sections from the application, character designer and content designer
